Nigeria-China strategic partnership deepens as Joseph Tegbe visits China to boost bilateral relations and foster sustainable economic development.
The Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP), Mr Joseph Tegbe, is on a pivotal visit to China to enhance bilateral relations and drive sustainable development. The visit aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and focuses on fostering economic growth, technological innovation, and infrastructure development.

Tegbe and his delegation met with Mr Zhao Chenxin, Deputy Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), and key figures from the Nigerian diplomatic community and Chinese business leaders. Discussions centred on boosting collaboration in agriculture, renewable energy, healthcare, mining, education, and technology, with Nigeria leveraging its resources and human capital.
The visit includes strategic engagements with the CCECC Head Office, China Export-Import Bank, Power China, Huawei, and other key organisations. Tegbe will also explore initiatives supporting China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to enhance connectivity and trade.
This visit follows President Tinubu’s discussions with China’s President Xi Jinping at the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), where China pledged 360 billion Yuan ($51 billion) in financing for African nations and support for 30 infrastructure projects.
As Nigeria aims to become a net exporter to China within five years, this consolidated partnership is crucial for achieving economic diversification, job creation, and sustainable growth.
