The BJAN Conference has established itself as a flagship event, bringing together top analysts and stakeholders to examine challenges and opportunities within Nigeria’s marketing communications industry. Following Ashiru’s keynote, an expert panel will analyse key issues raised, examining how government policies, including tax adjustments, interest rates, and subsidy removals, impact consumer spending and disposable income.

BJAN Chair Clara Okoro remarked that this year’s event will discuss strategies for businesses to adjust to changing consumer purchasing power and address shifts in consumption trends amid economic and policy pressures. Okoro emphasised the need for brands to adapt strategies to remain relevant and profitable despite economic challenges.

With a background as a former two-term Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in Ogun State, Ashiru’s influence significantly elevated Ogun State’s investment profile. During his tenure, Ogun State saw a remarkable increase in internally generated revenue, welcoming over 300 companies and securing about 75% of Nigeria’s manufacturing foreign direct investment between 2011 and 2016. His creation of the One-Stop-Shop Investment Centre (OSSIC) streamlined investment processes, establishing Ogun State among the top five states in Nigeria for ease of business by 2014.

Ashiru brings an extensive track record in strategic management and investment, with numerous awards, including Best Commissioner of the Year by Nigerian NewsDirect in 2015. His insights at the BJAN Conference are expected to offer a roadmap for restoring consumer confidence within Nigeria’s dynamic economic landscape.
