The top 11 finalists for the 2024 Maltina Teacher of the Year competition have emerged from over 1,477 entries. The competition, organised by the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, recognises outstanding teachers across Nigeria. The final winner will be announced at the grand finale on October 11, 2024, in Lagos.
The finalists for the 2024 Maltina Teacher of the Year competition have been revealed, marking a significant milestone in the prestigious annual event. Organised by the Nigerian Breweries-Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, this year’s competition attracted 1,477 entries from teachers nationwide. Out of these, 1,300 were selected for the first phase of grading, with 136 making it to the second phase. Following the rigorous review, the top 11 finalists have now been chosen.

The finalists include Aniefiok Iniobong Udoh (Akwa Ibom), Nwosu Chinenye Augustina (Anambra), and Ojo Olumuyiwa Olumide (Edo), among others. These outstanding educators have been recognised for their exceptional contributions to the teaching profession and their communities.
Sade Morgan, Corporate Affairs Director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, praised the panel of judges for their diligence in selecting the finalists. She also commended the level of scrutiny and transparency in the judging process, highlighting the fairness of the competition. Morgan encouraged the finalists to continue striving for excellence as they move forward in the competition.
The grand finale of the event is scheduled for Friday, October 11, 2024, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos. The event will feature the announcement of the winner, with the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yussuf Sununu, and Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in attendance.
Since its inception, the Maltina Teacher of the Year competition has recognised and rewarded over 200 teachers with prizes, showcasing its commitment to uplifting Nigeria’s educators.
