MTN Nigeria Launches West Africa’s First 5G Experience Centre In Abuja

MTN Nigeria has launched the first 5G Experience Centre in West Africa, located in Abuja. This innovative centre allows visitors to explore 5G technology through virtual reality, ultra-high-definition streaming, and other interactive features, demonstrating MTN’s commitment to advancing digital solutions across Nigeria.

MTN Nigeria, a leading telecommunications provider, has unveiled the first-ever 5G Experience Centre in West Africa, located in Abuja. The state-of-the-art centre, which was launched on 16th October 2024, reflects MTN’s commitment to enhancing connectivity in Nigeria and empowering customers with cutting-edge technology.

The launch event brought together key industry stakeholders, including representatives from the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), tech influencers like Fisayo Fosudo and Izzi Boye, and business leaders. Attendees were introduced to the endless possibilities of 5G technology, with immersive demonstrations featuring virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), ultra-high-definition streaming, and a digital customer service point.

MTN’s Chief Customer Relations Officer, Ugonwa Nwoye, stated, “Today, we are proud to unveil the MTN 5G Experience Centre, a hub for innovation and a testament to our dedication to bringing the best of technology as close as possible to our customers.” She highlighted MTN’s role in empowering Nigerians with advanced technological tools that will boost productivity across sectors such as healthcare, education, and agriculture.

Engineer Joseph Emeshili of the Nigerian Communications Commission commended MTN for its leadership in 5G technology. “The NCC applauds MTN Nigeria for promoting the development of emerging technologies and enabling customers to experience the full potential of 5G,” he said.

MTN’s Chief Information Officer, Shoyinka Shodunke, expressed enthusiasm for the centre’s potential, stating, “What you see today are dreams of our customers turned into realities. We take these dreams and co-create fantastic experiences for their businesses and pleasure.”

In addition to the 5G Experience Centre in Abuja, MTN is planning to roll out more centres across Nigeria to further promote digital literacy and innovation. The centre is now open to the public, offering personalised tours and demonstrations by appointment.

As MTN expands its 5G network across Nigeria, the company is eager to connect more communities to faster internet and inspire creativity through 5G’s transformative capabilities. “We invite all Nigerians to explore the endless possibilities that 5G offers,” Nwoye added.
