The “Don’t Burn Their Future” campaign addresses the growing concern over youth consumption of tobacco products. By raising awareness about the harmful effects of smoking, especially among young people, the campaign aims to curb the increasing access of underage individuals to tobacco. X3M Ideas used one of Nigeria’s most influential exports, Nollywood, to create a compelling 26-episode telenovela. The TV series dramatizes the dangers of smoking in a format that resonates with Nigerians, supported by a wide-reaching national campaign across various media platforms. One notable aspect of the campaign was Nigeria’s first “burning” billboard, which captured children’s dreams literally going up in smoke, symbolising the devastating impact of tobacco use.
In response to the win, Steve Babaeko, CEO of X3M Ideas, expressed gratitude to the FCCPC and the agency’s clients for their trust. He also emphasized that the award would motivate the team to continue delivering impactful campaigns that contribute to positive societal change.
The Lisbon International Advertising Festivals Group is a highly regarded global event that attracts top professionals from the advertising and creative sectors. X3M Ideas continues to set a high standard in creativity, with recent accolades including being named ‘African Agency of the Year’ at the 9th African Cristal Awards and winning the 2023 Agency of the Year at the Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival (LAIF) Awards.
